CN Juniors' Lecture Series 5: Introduction to Accelerator Technology and Its Frontiers (加速器技术及其前沿简介)

Submitted by ogomezal on

As researchers in the field of high-energy nuclear physics, we are often exposed to reports focusing on data analysis, detector technologies, and physics interpretations. However, the accelerators and colliders that power our experiments are just as crucial—they are our silent yet powerful partners in discovery.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Zhandong Zhang as our invited speaker.

Dr. Zhandong Zhang received his bachelor’s degree from Sichuan University and completed his Ph.D. studies at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, in the field of Nuclear Technology and Applications. During his doctoral studies, he was selected as a  joint Ph.D. student and studied at Université Paris-Saclay, where he earned a Ph.D. in Accelerator Physics.

He is currently conducting postdoctoral research at the French national synchrotron facility, Synchrotron SOLEIL. Dr. Zhang has been engaged in long-term research on particle accelerator optics design and beam dynamics, including parameter optimisation and optics design for monochromatisation schemes in electron-positron colliders, as well as nonlinear dynamics optimisation and insertion device error compensation in synchrotron light sources.

Today, he will present a talk titled:

Introduction to circular collider and its monochromatization concept

This is a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of the machines that lie at the heart of our experiments.

We would like to thank the ALICE Juniors’ representatives and the ALICE Juniors community for their strong support of this event.
