Notes on the interview

Dear applicant, here is some information about the coming interview for the job “CRAB Developer and Support Operator (EP-CMG-CO-2023-48-GRAE)” which you applied for.

You will be interviewed by Stefano Belforte (INFN -  Italy) and Katy Ellis (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory - UK), two senior Physicists who are the Hiring Managers for this job and Coordinators of the Analsysis Infrastructure and Support project inside the larger Offline and Computing project of the CMS collaboration. The CMS Remote Analysis Build  (CRAB) service falls in our area of responsibility

You may want to read a little about CMS before the interview, a brief tour starting from https://cms.cern/ should do.

A necessarily terse description of CRAB was in the job post, you will find more information in https://belforte.web.cern.ch/belforte/CRAB-for-DevOps.pdf

Please have a look, during the initial part of the review we will briefly go through that, explain further, and you will have a chance to ask questions.

This will be mostly an informal interview where the goal is for you and us to figure out if you will be able to do well in this job. We do not expect that you need do any special preparation for this. In order to be efficient we will follow this structure.

  1. We tell you a bit about CMS, CMS compuring, CRAB and give you a chance to ask questions to make sure that you have a correct idea of what we are doing

  2. We explain how the CRAB team is structured and how we work and what challenges we face

  3. We ask you to say something about yourself, what are your strengths, what you did that you are proud of, what are your plans for your career and how you see this fit in those plans and may ask you to elaborate on some details according to how it goes. We do not envisage a formal presentation with slides here.

  4. We give you time to ask anything you may want to know about us and the job

  5. We want to also ask you a few technical questions to make sure that there is no gross misunderstanding on our side of your skills.
