HL-LHC Transverse Beam Profile Monitoring Review

Submitted by ogomezal on

Scope

The main goals of the review are to:

  • present the LHC transverse beam profile monitoring functional requirements for the LHC in the High-Lumi era and the WP13 strategy which has been developed to fulfil them.

  • evaluate the performance and limitations of the beam instruments developed to meet these requirements.

  • highlight the main risks for successfully deploying the system in the LHC during Long Shutdown 3 (LS3), considering technical, budget and schedule factors.

Charge Questions

The Review Panel members are asked to answer the following questions:

1. Does the committee agree with the BI strategy for transverse beam profile monitoring?

2. For each proposed technical solution

  1. Does the monitor meet all functional requirements?
  2. Is the proposed strategy and the milestones to address remaining technical issues or risks well-defined and aligned with implementation during LS3?
  3. Are budget and schedule clearly explained?
