Dear Summer Students,

We warmly invite you to our Welcome Session on the first day of your contract (30th of June) at CERN at 08:45 in 222/R-001).

You will meet us directly there. We will provide you with your individual welcome handbooks and before our presentation starts at 09:15, you will have the chance to have a small breakfast with us.

We look forward to meeting you soon. Please note the welcome session is mandatory.

Important Information, please read the following carefully:

Please note that it is mandatory for everyone at the CERN site to wear a valid access badge at all times.

You will have to complete the following steps:

1. If not yet done, create your CERN computing account. You can request the activation of your account by sending an email to the CERN Service Desk at service-desk@cern.ch attaching a copy of your identity card or passport. Once activated you will have 5 days to pass the mandatory online security courses afterwards (you will receive this notification). 

2. Wearing a valid CERN access card is mandatory to enter the fenced parts of CERN.
To ensure your access card is ready on time, please upload your digital photo before Monday 23rd June using the following link:

Your card will be prepared and available for collection at the CERN Community Support Centre (CCSC), located in building 33/R, Esplanade des Particules, Meyrin Site. Please bring a valid ID to collect your card.
The CCSC is open from 07:00 to 18:30 on CERN working days. We recommend coming early to avoid delays.

3. Check out the new CERN Onboarding Dashboard where you can find lots of useful information about your onboarding journey. Please share with us your user experience, satisfaction level, and suggestions for improvement in this feedback form.

If you wish to enter the CERN sites with a vehicle, you must register it online on https://vehicles.cern.ch/vehicles/ (please note the validation process can take up to 48 hours, so please ensure you do this well in advance).

Please note: if you come to CERN before your contract start date and have a CERN hotel reservation, the security guard at Gate B will let you onto the CERN site if you show proof of your hotel reservation. If your access card is not ready to collect from the security guard, you must collect your access card from building 33 on your contract start date.
