EVERSE Webinar: The EVERSE Reference Framework - A Showcase

Submitted by ogomezal on

The EVERSE Reference Framework provides a comprehensive approach to research software quality, structured around four key pillars: technical aspects, FAIR software principles, open source software practices, and sustainability considerations. The framework incorporates a three-tier model for research software—analysis code, prototype tools, and research software infrastructure—designed to address the diverse needs across the research software landscape.

The framework offers multiple perspectives including research software lifecycle views, persona-based approaches for different user roles, and domain-specific requirements across EOSC Science Clusters. This adaptable approach recognises that quality requirements vary significantly between simple scripts and complex multi-user applications.

Currently in active development, the Reference Framework serves as both a theoretical foundation and practical guide for the EVERSE project's work in improving research software quality across European research communities. The framework will inform the development of the Research Software Quality toolkit (RSQkit), which will provide actionable guidance, tools, and services for researchers and research software engineers.
