In a formal ceremony the Physics Department of the AUTh awarded a honorary doctorate to CERN’s DG Dr. Fabiola Gianotti.

The ceremony was followed by an event celebrating the 70^th birthday CERN. After short talks and a review of all the Greek celebrations, Dr. Gianotti talked about “CERN: the past, present and future”. Then Dr. C. Markou, the Greek representative to CERN Council, talked about “Greece at CERN” and the event finished by  talk of Prof. D. Sampsonidis, the Greek representative in RECFA, about “AUTh at CERN”. A large audience of students and the general public followed the events.
